Re: Black Concrete.. 2May 24, 2011 10:29 pm Even with dark oxides in the concrete mix or trowelled into the surface it still dries a grey colour You can get a black concrete sealer that you roll on like paint, give it a couple of coats (lighter concrete may need more) and it stays dark in colour and protects the surface as well. You can get a variety of various colours for concrete. Just make sure you let the concrete properly cure, give it a weak wash with an acid:water mix and guerney it clean and dry well before you seal it. Also the finishing tools used on concrete bring the water to the surface and dilute the colour, especially when trowelled too early. If you have a go at exposed aggregate you can get much darker blacks as in the exposing process you wash off the top layer of cement paste revealing the darker colour below. Combine that with some black aggregates and you have some very good looking black concrete that will greatly outlive a colourseal driveway.
