Browse Forums Paving & Concreting 1 May 24, 2011 7:20 pm We are installing a Jetmaster open fire place 850 model. We are surrounding it with a wall unit and installing a 400mm high caesterstone topped bench for use as hearth, shelving and seat. This will span the full length of the wall. Flooring is timber floorboards. We have a maximum of 650mm depth we can go to either side of the fireplace (meets the bifold doors on one side). Unfortunately, given the depth of the fireplace (approx 500mm), this does not meet the minimum requirements of the forward projection of the hearth which must be 300mm directly in front and 200mm either side of the fireplace. I suppose our first option is to jut the hearth out around the fireplace, but I also wondered if perhaps anyone had any other options - perhaps just putting a slab of ceaserstone or similar on the floor in front of the fireplace? Any one had this issue?
