Hi
I have been driving through the new housing estates of late and have noticed people are using plain coloured concrete as opposed to stencil/ stamped.
Is there a trend away from stencil or stampled concrete?
Thanks
K

Personally, I was never a fan of stenciled concrete. We have it where we live at the moment, but it's the kind that looks like bluestone pavers so it's not too bad. When we build (eventually) I'll be leaning more towards the exposed aggregate, but in black/grey colour. I've seen a few of these darker aggregates lately and I really like it. Re: Is stencil concreted outdated? 4Apr 24, 2011 5:58 pm I think you'll find that people are choosing exposed aggregate as it is seen as a higher grade at the minute. Maintenance is the key to keeping any concrete looking good. If you like the look then it doesn't matter what anyone else thinks unless you plan on selling, in which case I would stick with plain grey or maybe a slightly darker grey/charcoal. Our old stenciled conc was pretty tired looking but the GLW still liked and wanted to get it again. I convinced her to get a dark grey saw cut concrete instead and get it grouted. |
