Browse Forums Paving & Concreting 1 Jan 01, 2008 7:47 pm Hi,
Is it possible to add concrete to existing concrete. I have a pergola that has 2 of its posts sitting on stirrups that are bolted to 300x300x300mm of concrete. The height of the concrete block is about 150mm below the surface of the adjacent pavers and the strirrup is 130mm tall so i want to pour another 100mm of concrete to make the stirrups more rigid. Can this be done? I was thinking of drilling some holes into the concrete so i can insert steel rods to act as dowels and probably add some mesh as well to help the cncrete join to the existing slab Like ⋅ Add a comment ⋅ Pin to Ideaboard ⋅ Re: concrete on concrete 2Jan 01, 2008 8:03 pm yes this can be done
drill 4 x holes to suit y12 deform bar, not to the bottom of pre existing conc. but 3/4 deep make sure the holes line up with each other ie : forming a square shape bend the deform bar into a ( u ) shape so as to be able to insert into two of the holes, if you can find it use chem set glue inserted into holes before inserting y12 deform bar each concrete pad should look like it has two handles form up the size of new pad that you want and pour it Da Vinci Outdoor Living Architectural landscaping http://www.davincioutdoor.com Re: concrete on concrete 3Jan 01, 2008 8:09 pm just read your other post
dont do what my reply to your question was it will not stop your pergola from wobbling do as Dukekamaya suggested Da Vinci Outdoor Living Architectural landscaping http://www.davincioutdoor.com To my understanding early saw cuts are to control shrinkage cracks, so doing them now would be pointless. Control joints may reduce ugly cracking during periods of soil… 3 9803 Hi all I need a guidance on how far I need to space expansion joints in the concrete driveway and its type (keyway/foam.) Contraction joints are at 3m max for a 125 slab. Thanks 0 10921 |
