Browse Forums Paving & Concreting 1 Mar 15, 2011 1:31 pm Hello, We are in need of help to decide a color for our driveway and patio. We are having Stenciled concrete and have a brochure of the Fauxtex modern colors, Its just very hard to go by this color chart. We were interested in the Ash white but Im unable to find any decent pictures to show its true color... PLS HELP..We have to make a decision in the next few days and I dont want to rely soley on this brochure... I have attatched a picture of the front of our house. We have dark Bricks (Austral Tan) and a Surfmist colorbond roof, Garage door will also be surfmist and the front of the house will be painted a very light White/Grey.. Any thoughts would be greatly appreciated.. Choosing a Fauxtex color concrete:) 3Mar 16, 2011 10:20 pm Hello, We are going to be building the Montague in The Avenue Estate and have been avidly following your build so far. Personally my dh and I would avoid choosing a light colour for a driveway as we fear it will mark so easily. I think something like Brazil Nut or Chestnut would go well with the colours of your house. Gun metal could also look striking next to your garage door. Chestnut could be a safe choice if you didn't want to go too dark and is probably our favourite for your house. We just chose our colours on Sunday and cant wait to get the Contract signed. Happy choosing! Cheers, Alkalised My Thread: viewtopic.php?f=31&t=49140 Our Blog: http://buildingattheavenue.blogspot.com/ Re: Please help!! Choosing a Fauxtex color concrete:) 4Mar 17, 2011 9:23 am Hello alkalise, Im so glad to hear you are building the Montague ..Its a fantastic house.. What colors did you end up choosing for your roof/Brick? Its such a hard choice.. We are really happy how the house looks at present and cant wait for the painting to start.. We are at Final Stage and hope to be in by July..Last invoice..Thank goodness Thanks for your input with colors,I didnt want to have the driveway stand out and take away the glory from the house. Ive decided to go to Berwick tomorrow and have a look at the samples again. I agree about the Ash white marking easily but I thought it may go better with the roof..I really want to have as minimal colors as possible and have the color in the garden.. I like the Brazil Nut also but its so hard to choose from this brochure..Im done with choosing colors..so over it! Good luck with signing and please keep following our build..Many more pictures to come.... Take Care xx Re: Please help!! Choosing a Fauxtex color concrete:) 5Mar 17, 2011 12:57 pm I feel better after seeing the concrete supplier..The Brazil Nut was too dark for me, The chestnut too red and White..No way after seeing it in the flesh.. Thanks for the help alkalise... I have attatched some pictures of what Im leaning towards.. I really like Bluestone with the Charcoal RT or The lite Mocha.. Descisions..Descions... Choosing a Fauxtex color concrete:) 6Mar 17, 2011 3:34 pm The Bluestone looks good, a light driveway will cause you so much pain, cleaning it is not much fun. Bluestone normally looks good with anything, your bricks are dark and the picture you have looks great with it. Re: Please help!! Choosing a Fauxtex color concrete:) 7Mar 17, 2011 6:45 pm Ok, so we like the bluestone but like the lite Mocha better. This is probably a better choice if you really want to keep the focus on the house and you did want to keep it lighter, the bluestone is perhaps too striking. After lots and lots of driving around and research (with the help of this forum too) we have chosen Lonsdale brick with Surfmist roof, gutters and facsia, paperbark downpipes, and finials. Timber stain for windows and front door. We opted to go for all brick instead of the weathertex boards. We hope we can afford a exposed aggregate driveway. So when you finally move in will that be 8 months since site start? We have to be out of our rental by Xmas and it's looking like we will be lucky to be in by then. Looking forward to seeing more photos of your lovely home. Cheers, Alkalised My Thread: viewtopic.php?f=31&t=49140 Our Blog: http://buildingattheavenue.blogspot.com/ Re: Please help!! Choosing a Fauxtex color concrete:) 8Mar 17, 2011 7:25 pm Have you seen this website? http://ivp.depictionsoftware.com/concre ... =Driveways (Am I allowed to link this site?) I'm not sure if you're actually using Parchem, but if you select the picture of your house that is closest in colour (unfortunately you can't upload a picture of your on as far as I know), on the left hand said you can select driveway or border, the select Fautex stencil as the product and it will allow you to look at the various patterns and colours on the driveway of the picture you chose. Re: Please help!! Choosing a Fauxtex color concrete:) 9Mar 19, 2011 8:17 am Thanks Guys... Really appreciate the feedback! We have decided to go with the Lite Mocha, In the Bushrock stencil with the cobblestone border. I liked the bluestone color, But after speaking to the guys at parcham they informed me that the picture I had with bluestone was a resurfacing job(pre exisiting) and It would have looked totally different to the sample I saw. I dont want the driveway to be the main feature of the house and want the house to have all the glory. We decided the Lite Mocha will go better with our color selections inside the house also. Done and Done... Alkalised- Your colors sound fantastic..Exciting isnt it!Yay another Surmist roof!. From memory our contracts were signed in late August. Our site start was in October So to date from signing contract its been 7 months and we are hoping to be finished in May/June so all up 10 months after signing contracts... I really hope they get a wriggle on if you plan to be in by Christmas.. I hope you start a thread so I can watch your build also.. Take Care ... Re: Please help!! Choosing a Fauxtex color concrete:) 10Mar 19, 2011 12:55 pm It will look great, it is a hard choice with concrete and as you said you don't want the driveway to be the main focus. We have to pick a color for under our pergola and patio once the house is finished, my Sons, Boss's Brother is doing it for us, he is going to do pattern, but we will pick which one. I only have to pay for the concrete etc.. and the boys wages for the day, nice of him to offer a deal like that. I'm getting our cooling at cost, no fitting costs, my Son will install it. They wouldn't let us take the price of the heating out of the price! it would have saved us thousands. Re: Please help!! Choosing a Fauxtex color concrete:) 11Mar 21, 2011 10:00 am Thanks Deb, How lucky are you to know people in various trades..Awesome.. Where are you building?? Very exciting stuff.. Re: Please help!! Choosing a Fauxtex color concrete:) 12Mar 21, 2011 3:26 pm We are building in Doreen, my Son installs Heating and Cooling so I am very lucky, he knows alot of people in the building trade and our good friend is an electrician. The price the builders charge for cooling is ridiculous, thousands above what it actually costs. We could all save thousands if we actually contracted our builds ourselves, but I like being able to sit back and relax and let someone else do the hard work. Re: Please help!! Choosing a Fauxtex color concrete:) 13Mar 21, 2011 3:40 pm Deb, Ill take your work for it, Cooling is expensive, They must all think we have Money trees growing in our Yards It is nice to sit back and not have to organise everything..If I didnt have 4 kids Id love to be the building supervisor but unforately I just dont have the time, nor the energy... Good luck with your build!..Love to see your Thread and pics as it goes ahead!.. Re: Please help!! Choosing a Fauxtex color concrete:) 15Mar 22, 2011 8:51 am Thanks Deb, Its all coming together..and DITTO to you i had the my concreters concrete right up to the fence. I have pits all along my path, so the water tends to drain away from the house and into the pits. There's only one… 7 12718 I would probably definitely consider contrasting out garage door (e.g. light ash would look great) and make downpipes and fascia same colour as your walls, not as your… 1 3562 Suggestions please for acrylic rendering Color to match austral brick urban one pepper. Pic for reference. Thanks 0 5063 |
