We have been trying to get some quotes for exposed aggregate for the past six months. All the big businesses quoted us 95 m2. Since it was a really big job we wanted to find a bit more cheaper price. As everyone knows every penny counts when you have just moved into a new home. There were these ads placed on the traffic lights around our area. So i reluctantly asked this guy to give us a quote. He had just completed a job in the neigbourhood and I didnt like the colour as it was quite grey and he uses BGC mix. But he kept reassuring me that it would be cream.
This 'local' guy said he will do it for 65 m2 and couldnt believe my ears. All other quotes so far said that I was looking at 110 m2 at 95 m2 . This sounded music to my ears.. So i went ahead and asked him to site measure. He came back and said it was 180 m2. I was really angry and said I didnt believe him as every one else had quoted a higher price but the m2 was in 110 m2 range. Evidently, this guy was conning people by saying he was charging less per m2 when he actually was charging pretty much the 95 m2 by *** on the size of the job. We have finally decided to go with a bloke who has quoted us 85 m2 plus earth works and concrete pump extra as we need two colours wattle and bottlebrush from holcim. So thats actually around 99 m2. I now understand what onc-artisan was trying to say when he said "you get what you pay for". I am thankful to him and other bloggers who shared their experiences.
