Browse Forums Paving & Concreting 1 Dec 14, 2010 11:31 am I've got the concreting guys here, all boxed up ready to pour the patio....
They want to know what we'll be putting on top and hence what finish is needed, rough or smooth? We'll be laying sandstone pavers on the slab later. I haven't looked into this yet! What materials are usually used for laying sandstone pavers on concrete.... cement? tile adhesive? should the concrete be finished rough or smooth? Hope someone in the know can help urgently! Re: URGENT question! sandstone pavers on concrete slab 2Dec 14, 2010 12:03 pm I would get a rough finish. Tiles can be laid onto concrete in two ways. One is "solid" where the pavers are fixed into the concrete or on a mortar base. The other technique is to use a bed of fine river sand and then just fix the border pavers. This technique means there is give in the sand so pavers won't crack under wieght. Either way a rough finish allows mortar to adhere better and if you are using sand it doesnt matter. Would be best to call a paver or maybe someone like paving plus and get a professional opinion.
