Browse Forums Paving & Concreting 1 Nov 10, 2010 8:40 pm Hey guys, onc, davinci perhaps? Its rare for a concretor to ask for advice on here but anyway I'm in need of some help. I have a driveway to install where the customer is requesting it to be cambered so the water drains to the sides. Im wondering if any of you have installed one like this before? Im wanting a rolling arch type shape rather than something triangular. Like whats common on a gravel drive. Do you know the best way to get this look? Do I set a rail in the middle and screed the side like a gulley in reverse? How do I stop it looking tent like? Any ideas appretiated. Cheers Rory Re: Concretors have you installed a drive with a convex camb 2Nov 11, 2010 4:43 am Id get a some square tubing rolled to desired arch and screed across driveway. have 2 fabricated to either attach to form boards either side, maybe a few spikes welded to them to tap into the ground to give some stability. this is assuming its a straight driveway at a mostly consistent width.. Re: Concretors have you installed a drive with a convex camb 3Nov 11, 2010 9:04 am Sounds like it could work but the driveway will meander a bit and vary i width. Perhaps cutting an arch into a bit of timber would do the trick.. a bit like screeding with a bowed piece of wood. I wonder how difficult this would be to get a good finish..? its exposed aggregate thats going down. Re: Concretors have you installed a drive with a convex camb 4Nov 11, 2010 10:14 am Hmmm... a bent screed? Sounds like a tough one to reveal too! How much camber? 50mm from center? Where you are coming from is where you are going to... Re: Concretors have you installed a drive with a convex camb 5Nov 12, 2010 11:23 am two ways to do it : rails to outside edges and one in the centre, set your heigth datum for centre rail 20-30mm higher than external rails screed down one side then come down the other screed it flat to outer rail and inner rail as normal in 500-600mm increments ie : dont screed whole lot at the start then cut the top of the centre with your screed or trowel with a mag float not a steel trowel. It will still be squarish but the bull float will round it off. or Instead of screeding down drive screed across, external rails as normal internal 20-30mm higher than external when you screed from one side to the other roll the centre dont square cut it again bull float will round it off. (This is how i would do it) Either way if you can see height and flat you will kill it, it is dicky to do so stay within your skill level ie: dont pour to much maybe do a split pour Best way to think of it is when you screed a large spoon drain (gully) you go from out side to inner then mag float it or bull float it round do this in reverse Prolly dont need to say but when you fressno trowel go side to side not up and down drive so you get a nice top ridge roll Being expossed agg. obviously your gonna be doing a bit of cutting (screeding on diffrent horizontal angles) so dont fill your holes with slurry Da Vinci Outdoor Living Architectural landscaping http://www.davincioutdoor.com Re: Concretors have you installed a drive with a convex camb 6Nov 14, 2010 5:26 pm hi , i had this done when i did my driveway. when i had my driveway done , the concreter, put his laser level prom the curb to my garage slab and found it was the same hieght. im talking within 1 or 2 mil anyway they had to put a concave slope to it from the middle. so the water runns to the curb from the middle and back to the garage from the middle, into the water grate that runs alomg the front of the garage. at a guess it looks like its about 50 to 100 mill higher in the middle. its in exposed agg, and its come up a treat.. not sure how they boxed it up though. sorry cheers mark.. Yeah mine about 9 metres long and 8 wide with slope of 25% at one point but the end point of the outlet is past the side of garage and if he concretes allowing for… 4 4517 The unit normally clips into a metal plate screwed to the wall, either plate is not flush, or unit not hooked in and could be hanging from the pipes partly, either might… 2 15775 Thanks mate.
