Browse Forums Paving & Concreting 1 Oct 29, 2010 1:12 pm I am prepping an area on a slightly sloped backyard to pave an area for a new shed. I have mapped out where I am digging and have made a good start, but I am not too sure what is the best way to ensure I get it as level as possible before putting in the sane/roadbase/pavers etc. Is it with a stringline? Can anyone give me any insight or tips on how best to acheive this? http://i221.photobucket.com/albums/dd191/McReidy23/untitled.jpg Re: Prepping sloped backyard for paving - advice please. 2Oct 29, 2010 9:44 pm Hi McReidy, I would buy a screed with a level bubble in the handle, if you don't intend to do much more brick paving maybe just hire one. http://www.ami-uk.com/onthelevel.html I have an AMI 2.7m screed with level in the handle, I used it to level off a sand pad to install my rainwater tank, I had it +/- 10mm over 9.7 metres using just this. Re: Prepping sloped backyard for paving - advice please. 3Nov 03, 2010 11:09 am you can set up a temporary level with timber along the edges of the area you want paved then slide another piece of timber along the top of it like a screed. Just dump a bunch of packing sand on the area then smooth it off with the screen. You just have to make sure your timbers are in fact straight on at least one edge (more difficult than you might think). But it can be done fairly cheaply, as stud framing pine is only $2-4 per meter Any recommendations for builders for a KDRB in North Warrandyte ?
