Pool Render

Hi All
Would appreciate any advice.
I have removed my old waterline tiles and glue patches. Water line area is due to get rendered, prior to tiler placing tiles. Tiler requested rendered surface so that the new mosaic tiles can be evenly placed.
The renderer has said he will just use a regular sand and cement mix.
I am concerned that he should use a dedicated product that works better underwater.
Does such a render exist or does he need to add an additive to his standard above water mix?
Or will his normal render mix do, as it will be covered with tiles and grout anyway.
My pool is indoor in Melbourne, so climate is not as harsh as some.
Thanks for help!
