Browse Forums Paving & Concreting 1 Oct 21, 2010 10:39 pm Hi all i have received 2 quotes for my driveway and both side of the house to be concreted. Driveway is exposed aggregate including the porch and sides are normal concrete. 1 quote - $4800 This one not much explanation and just fill with soil and pour the concrete over on the sides. Driveway i have the metal mesh and pour on it will finish in three days. Will put bondcrete to attach to the porch roughly 50mm on the porch and 100mm rest of the area 2 quote - $5600 explained to me that need to put crushed rock underlay since my soil is clay and this moves. Since putting over the porch need to put crushed rock. Plus need to hire a bobcat. Will do it in three days. Showed me couple of places that he done. Pretty neat, 500mm porch rest is 100mm. looks like got experience doing this. Shall i go for the cheaper one and risk it or is the crushed rocks is really necessary as per the quote one he didn’t mentioned about crushed rocks said he will bring dirt. Was confused. Would appreciate of someone’s help and advice Re: SE suburbs exposed aggregate quote help needed 2Oct 21, 2010 10:44 pm LL should be a minimum of 100mm thick... the cost should be about $80 sq mtr. I have no idea how many sq mtrs you have to do so no way of calculating if either is fair and reasonable. Where you are coming from is where you are going to... Re: SE suburbs exposed aggregate quote help needed 3Oct 21, 2010 10:49 pm thanks for the prompt reply and yes for the 2nd quote driveway 41m2 and 29m2 normal concrete sides ($1600) + $3500(driveway) + 500 (crushed rocks and bobcat) 1st quote - didnt mentioned about this but close to above info mayebe bit smaller driveway Re: SE suburbs exposed aggregate quote help needed 4Oct 21, 2010 10:54 pm Oops.. too many threads and not enough answers I should have said Exposed aggregate not LL. The cost for the type of exposed aggregate will be variable, from $75 sq mtr to $120 sq mtr. $80sq mtr is a basic mix. ( grey and standard stone) Where you are coming from is where you are going to... Re: SE suburbs exposed aggregate quote help needed 6Oct 26, 2010 9:06 am If it were me there is no question I'd go with quote 2. if he is hiring a bobcat to properly level the area plus adding the rock for only $800 I'd regard it as insurance and well worth it. I think i have to make the decision by this week. Last year I had a gas leak at my house. 3 days later, I have about 1 sqm of my exposed aggregate paving broken up.
