Browse Forums Paving & Concreting 1 Sep 11, 2010 10:50 am Hi all!! Just needing advice on how to fix an area of 2.25sqm (1.5m x 1.5m) paving to accommodate a 2100l poly tank. At the moment the paving is slightly uneven so i'm looking to make it flat and strong enough for the tank to sit on it without sagging or causing problems down the track. I got a quote from a plumber of $980 to prepare the base, remove pavers and relay flat and then to install tank and plumbing from downpipe. For plumbing works with no base prep he wants $485. So i thought i might try to level it out myself to save some $$$ in readiness for them to install tank only. Any suggestions? Thanks in advance Re: Leveling area of uneven pavers for a 2100L rainewater ta 2Sep 11, 2010 11:33 am At a minimum 100mm dense compacted crushed rock ie: hire a plate compactor. Mix a bag or two of cement through the rock before raking out level, then compact it. Install pavers to finish flush with washed sand about 5mm above the existing paver height. Get a peice of carpet and tie it to the base of the plate compacted and run the compacter over pavers. Best option is a reinforced concrete base Da Vinci Outdoor Living Architectural landscaping http://www.davincioutdoor.com Re: Leveling area of uneven pavers for a 2100L rainewater ta 3Sep 11, 2010 11:09 pm You dont need the pavers, you can just sit it on compated sand pad if you really want. Or you can do as davinci has suggested and sit it on compacted agrregate like blue metal etc. You can box it out with a concrete kerbing or treated pine border to "tizzy it up". I also went down to the local boral and the guy suggested laying a 60mm layer of rubble and then 10mm quarry sand. He also said that if I have clay pavers, they should be sturdy enough.
