Browse Forums Paving & Concreting 1 Jul 15, 2010 10:10 am Hi all, interested in the experts opinions as whether an 80mm liquid limestone slab arrangement could be poured around a swimming pool without removing the existing brick paving. The levels work out well as there is a 40mm fiberglass lip on the pool which I want to cover with a 40mm/50mm coping paver, leaving 80-90mm thick back which I want to pave up to with liquid limestone slabs over the existing brick paving. The existing brick paving is on a yellow sand base with mortar bed on top grouted with beach sand by the looks. (which the ants mine out regularly) There are a couple of spots where the paving has sunk due to water overflows (mainly around skimmer box / steps) which I would backfill and compact, possibly with concrete. The entire area would be edge contained by planter boxes/retaining walls/buried limestone block edging so no chance of the brickwork blowing out to any side. Will install plenty joints in the slabs. What do you think - too slack ? A grano worker mate reckons it would work but am after second opinions. Also, has anyone got any feedback on liquid limestone pool surrounds after a few years, does it deteriorate / start to look crappy ? cheers Re: Liquid limestone over brick paving - too slack ? 2Jul 16, 2010 1:10 am UP the cement content and use a laser level to check your minimum thinkness and make it 85mm. I have been using a 5:1 mix of cement/limestone for my paths, go to a 4:1 then, Onc? And while I have got you there, should I put in a foam expansion joint between pool coping pavers & slabs, and if so what is the the best sealant to use over this that can colour match LL ? cheers Re: Liquid limestone over brick paving - too slack ? 4Jul 16, 2010 9:39 am Should be about right.
