Re: HELP!!! Worst concrete ever - photos added 42Jul 11, 2010 8:49 pm Because when it rains the trench will allow water to flow into the cavity and track around the walls. The weepholes are just above the warterproof barrier that extends around the house. Where you are coming from is where you are going to... Re: HELP!!! Worst concrete ever - photos added 43Jul 11, 2010 8:55 pm True - crap!!!!!!!! Im gonna have to get the concrete ripped up. Well at least the middle section. We read our warranty and the concrete is the be at least 100mm BELOW the weep holes. Re: HELP!!! Worst concrete ever - photos added 44Jul 11, 2010 9:02 pm O M F@$%^&* G! Worst concrete ever - photos added 45Jul 11, 2010 9:31 pm why don't you given VCAT a call tomorrow - either Civil Claims List or could be Domestic Building List. If Civil Claims - will cost you about $40 for an application and you'll get a hearing in about a month. The Tribunal was set up for people to represent themselves. Legal Aid also give free legal advise regarding this list at VCAT. Good luck. ...what a shocking job! Re: HELP!!! Worst concrete ever - photos added 46Jul 11, 2010 9:37 pm Just a bit of friendly advice, it might be a good idea to take down the pic of the concreters, too. You wouldn't want to get into trouble for defamation and ruin any case you might have. Re: HELP!!! Ill photoshop it now. **found a better pic of the handles anyway updated Re: HELP!!! Worst concrete ever - photos added 50Jul 11, 2010 9:50 pm kateypink To be honest I am a bit scared about doing anything, Im worried what this guy will turn into knowing where we live and all. Well if he does maybe tell your neighbours about your situation so if he does try anything you'll have someone to back up your story when you go to the police. Re: HELP!!! Yeah we only have one neighbour (next door) all the rest are still under construction. But we have told them and they agreed they didnt like the concreters attitude either. Re: HELP!!! Worst concrete ever - photos added 53Jul 14, 2010 9:37 pm cclarity why did you pay them? sorry but i had to laugh at those drains... never seen one that bad Because Im stupid!!! He made us pay $2000 deposit. Then when he turned up on the second day he said he needed another $2000, we said no but he said if we didnt pay before 9:30am he'd have to cancel the concrete delivery as he had already spent the deposit money on steel and colours (total BS). Then when he'd finished I paid the balance but I could not see most of the concrete as we couldnt walk on it til it was set. I am in the process of trying to find a building inspector (In Melbourne) who can access the concrete and give me a report. I am also having to word a letter of demand and give him 7days to come and view the work before we go through consumer affairs. My letter of demand will be asking for the initial quote amount $6380 back as I do not want this incompetent guy ' fixing' his crap job. I will also be telling him his lucky we are not asking for more money to pay to rip up the concrete! Re: HELP!!! Worst concrete ever - photos added 54Jul 14, 2010 10:08 pm That job looks like it was done by my 3 year old!!! I feel so sorry for you! I truly hope you can be reimbursed AND compensated for ripping it up as well. Worst concrete ever - photos added 55Jul 14, 2010 10:13 pm Why not ask for money to pay to rip up the concrete? You shouldn't be worse off (at least financially) than when you started with a blank canvas. Well, if it comes to that and if the experts agree that it needs partial or full demolishing. Hopefully they can also give you an estimate of how much it would cost to rectify (whichever way it needs to be rectified/rebuilt). Hopefully you can get a really good inspector. I guess I dont want to feel greedy, even though I am probably well entitled to it. Lex Hopefully you can get a really good inspector I really hope so, any recommendations would be great as I am going blind into choosing someone. Re: HELP!!! Worst concrete ever - photos added 57Jul 14, 2010 11:23 pm If this can be inspected by the usual building inspectors (used for construction progress inspections), then you have quite some choice over there - eg. Big Kev, Alex, Darren ... Melbournians would have the suggestions ... I'm sure a good inspector would tell you his prof opinion as to how can this be rectified - which would obviously involve assessing if it has to be demolished. Wishing you the best! I don't get how those blokes run a business. The job is beyond poor, it also is dysfunctional (drains hardly work) and damaging to the house (no expansion foam and covered up weep holes). Did he put saw cuts in the slab to allow for cracking? I'd go him for full money back, plus removal fee's. The only thing he can probably keep is excavation costs. The only hiccup I can see is that you have already paid the price. He will argue that by you paying that you have agreed to the satisfactory completion of the job, but I think if you haven't signed anything, plus the attrocious state he left your job in, you should have a good case against him. Yes, unless you are in a low intensity rainfall area or the area is protected from rain. Do you have access to NCC Part 2 or can you download it? I can email you a copy… 10 10364 i had the my concreters concrete right up to the fence. I have pits all along my path, so the water tends to drain away from the house and into the pits.
