Browse Forums Paving & Concreting 1 Jul 05, 2010 6:23 pm Currently our driveway runs against the side of our house. The house is double brick and on footings and stumps. Our block and driveway is on a steep slope. I want to dig it out the driveway to make a sunken car parking area that is on less of a steep slope. This dug out car parking area would include a section that would be 5 metres in length against the house. I will put a concrete slab for the new car parking area. Does anyone have any ideas on if i can have the the concrete slab dug out at the same depth against the footings or does it need to be above the footings ? My concern is about maintaining the structural integrity of the footings of the house. Any thoughts/comments appreciated. 6 4323 DIY, Home Maintenance & Repair I'm in WA and our sandy soils make drainage a bit easier but this is what I'd be doing. Control joints may reduce ugly cracking during periods of soil… 3 9827 |
