Browse Forums Paving & Concreting Re: cost of paving? 2Jun 28, 2010 10:13 am I have started doing my own paving so will list down the prices of individual things. Road base - 44$ per m3. ( 1m3 is enough for approx 13sqm at 75mm thickness) Paving Sand - 55$ per m3 ( enough for approx 40sqm at 25mm thickness ) Kanga/Dingo hire costs for excavation - 150$ for the weekend ( if you have big enough access to the backyard) Compactor hire from Bunnings - 50$ I think Edge restraints - depends on whether you go for treated pine sleepers or concrete.. I am going for the 3.6m x 150mm x 25mm one's from Bunnings for 6$ each... And the pavers ofcourse..depends entirely on what you choose.... I got quotes of around 30-35$ per sqm for paving ( this includes everthing apart from the pavers ofcourse )... I had 50sqm of paving to be done so decided to do it DIY..... Hope this helps..I am sure more exp people will pitch in too...I might have missed something... Cheers Avish Re: cost of paving? 3Jul 09, 2010 3:21 pm Hi Sparkles - reading through some of the other threads convinced me to get our paving done onto concrete rather than onto roadbase. Added a bit to the quote but is definitely worth it due area being around a pool and this is our 'forever house' and I don't relish doing this job again even if it is in 10 yrs time We are not in the right 'space' to diy on this type of project (got a bit of complexity to it that includes stairs) so I got a bunch of quotes and then looked at websites and referrals of each and then made a decision. It is important to get a least 3 quotes because there can be massive variance in price. The pattern you want to do also appears to affect the price too ... french pattern is more expensive than straight lines for example. In terms of paver - again we shopped around and I'd suggest that you do this too. If you go through a paver/tiler they can often get the tiles cheaper because it is wholesale. Hope it all comes together for you ... I had 28m2 of engineered pavers laid six months back and it was difficult to find someone not taking the pi$$. Internet suggested it should be $85-100/m2 to lay them.… 3 9641 As most others have posted above the install isn't compliant.
