Browse Forums Paving & Concreting 1 May 31, 2010 4:37 pm We're just about to start building our new home and pool and need to choose a product for our alfresco area and pool surrounds. We're hearing conflicting reports on the best tile or paver to use. We love honed sanstone but have been advised to avoid it as we've chosen saltwater for the pool. Apparently it needs to be sealed twice a year?? I'm guessing travertine would be the same? We don't like the look of granite Any suggestions? http://www.shireimpression.blogspot.com Re: Alfresco and pool surrounds - what to use? 2Jun 01, 2010 1:40 pm You can actullay use sandstone around your pool area if you like. There is a product on the market that will RESIST salt attack. I know this because we manufacture it. You apply the product to the bullnose and one tile out with this product and then seal over it with a penetrating sealer. My company has had this tested by the CSIRO so we know it works not a problem. As for sealing twice a year, dont know who told you this but not needed. You may want to re-seal after 3-5 years depending on traffic ie: wear and tear.
