Browse Forums Paving & Concreting 1 May 20, 2010 8:03 pm [Hi everyone ~ just a repeat of the post in "Building a New House" ~ thanks!] Hey all, would so much appreciate any info people have on this... does anyone know how deep do the concrete guys have to excavate for a standard concrete driveway?? The block is flat, so we're not looking at cutting into any retaining walls or anything like that, but we *may* have another significant tree (not ours, the neighbour's) that we will have to take into account for the driveway. This has the potential to add to our tree issues (as if we didn't have enough already!!) ~ I need to be on the ball with any background info people might have from experience. All and any info so much appreciated ~ thanks guys! ~ cheers, J * I might also post this where the garden people go... * _______________________________________________________________ We're a knockdown | rebuild ~ Melb SE burbs Building modified version of the Fairhaven Glenaire Homeone thread: viewtopic.php?f=31&t=28429 _______________________________________________________________ Re: Concrete driveway ~ how deep do they dig? Can anyone hel 2May 21, 2010 6:53 am depth depends on how thick the rock base needs to be. as a guide allow 100mm concrete and 50mm after compaction of crushed rock. The drive will probably take a flat viewing plan from garage to cross over so if there is a hump etc this would also increase the over all apperance of the site cut. Can anyone hel 4May 23, 2010 8:15 pm I think I missed something adding water does not cost extra. Water can be added for a number of reasons, ie delivery length of time, heat during the day, steel fixings. It is not unusual to add some water, if the estimated dryness of the material used is less that actual then added water may make the placement better and have less honeycombing than drier(less slump)' 32 mpa concrete cost about $7 per cubic mtr more than 25 mpa concrete(extra cement) Slump refers to the distance a sample from a 'bucket' will spead. 80 slump is standard for a slab. Adding 30ltrs into a 5 cubic mtr mix is a small portion of the total water content and will not change 80 slump to 90 slump. Good luck. And yes any builder… 2 13769 To my understanding early saw cuts are to control shrinkage cracks, so doing them now would be pointless. Control joints may reduce ugly cracking during periods of soil… 3 9858 Hi all I need a guidance on how far I need to space expansion joints in the concrete driveway and its type (keyway/foam.) Contraction joints are at 3m max for a 125 slab. Thanks 0 10939 |
