Browse Forums Paving & Concreting 1 May 10, 2010 12:38 pm We'll be putting in a 32x2 brick fence in our backyard for lanscaping soon. Any idea how many bricks we'll need? I have been gathering both 2course fast bricks and single course bricks so it's hard to get any idea just how many I need. Thanks! Re: How many bricks? 2May 10, 2010 1:06 pm i am assuming you are saying you have a 32 metre long by 2 metre high brick wall. allow 48 bricks per square metre which also covers about a 10% wastage as some will break, be a slightly different size/colour. so 32x2 is 64 m2. 64x48 is 3,072 bricks. I have about 5cubic meters piled up - sounds like I might have enough for the wall. I also intend to have a planter box/seating area along the base of this wall... this will add an additional 40 - 50% bricks I reckon. So all up I'll need around 4500 bricks - 7 cubic meters by my calculation. Might need 2 more trailer loads. Re: How many bricks? 4May 10, 2010 4:58 pm The other way to work it out if you have different brick sizes, is get your total length, and divide by the brick length ie. 0.240mm (length of most brick's + 10mm mortar), and times that figure by how many bricks high you are going. Then add some more for breakages or cuts, and to have some spare. So if the wall is 32Lm and 765mm high, it would be 134 (bricks in 32Lm) x 9 high (brick courses high with mortar gaps)= 1206 (then add a few more) Planned Landscape Constructions http://www.plannedlandscape.com.au Find us on facebook http://www.facebook.com/profile.php?id= ... 9907611509 I would never build with Fowler homes.
