Browse Forums Paving & Concreting 1 Mar 11, 2010 10:18 am Hi all, Looking at getting a driveway, rural residential 10m-12m long (I promise I'll get the exact length) by 6m wide. Just got a quote for Hotmix with a paver edge - totalled $7260 ($6600 + $660 GST) includes: Trim existing to level & remove grass etc Supply spread & compact 100mm DhB (not sure if that's right, hard to read) 20 Road base Supply & lay 30mm AC 10 Hotmix $5400 Supply & lay paver edge $1200 However the guy said because their expense is from moving equipment that because they will be in the area next week on another job and if we go ahead with it they can do ours at a reduced price of $5,500 - for everything. That's a huge discount - is this normal or is it just a way to pull in a job and suggest that his original quote was inflated for that exact purpose??? Does the price sound reasonable? I'm waiting on two more quotes - one concrete and one expose agg. Any ideas on price here? Thanks Re: Driveway - Hunter Valley 2Mar 11, 2010 11:01 am Okay length is actually 14.5m and width is 5.6 Just got a quote for coloured concrete at $6500. He said exposed aggregate would be more expensive and that hotmix will need to be redone in a few years - is that true? Any thoughts would be appreciated. Re: Driveway - Hunter Valley 4Mar 21, 2010 10:39 pm 81 sq mtrs so about 8000 for exposed aggregate... Asphalt prolly a bit more than a few years service life. Where you are coming from is where you are going to... Re: Driveway - Hunter Valley 5Mar 24, 2010 11:14 pm A friend at work in Maitland lives up the valley and had the same thing happen. They droped the price again after he said no... They gave the whole "we are in the area" speal... even called back in at a later date to try again. It's up to you in the end ... maybe ask to see the job they are working on now in the area and see what you think. My build thread:https://forum.homeone.com.au/viewtopic.php?f=31&t=24870 thanks guys! yes this is how I've exactly raised it with the builder. still awaiting response. 12 6036 To my understanding early saw cuts are to control shrinkage cracks, so doing them now would be pointless. Control joints may reduce ugly cracking during periods of soil… 3 9857 |
