Browse Forums Paving & Concreting 1 Feb 26, 2010 8:57 pm Hi, We had a stenciled driveway with different colour for stencil and release agent. The builder has put colour concrete driveway by mistake. When I brought this to their attention, the administrator said that they are not yet done with the driveway and will put the stencils but there will be only one colour as there is no release agent and it was the mistake of the colour consultant to mention that. My questions: 1. Is it possible to change the colour concrete driveway to stenciled one or it is just a cover up by builder? 2. Will it really be a stenciled driveway? To me it looks like a wrong way of doing the stenciled driveway as online resources mention that the stenciled can be added when the concrete is still wet and not after the concrete has cured. 2. Does stenciled driveway has release agent in different colour? Any help is appreciated! cheers, AG Re: Builder did it again 5Feb 27, 2010 3:15 pm From my experience a better job is achieved by adding stencil after the slab is laid and cured. It's not a cheaper option , it's not a mistake it's just better. So the builder did it afterwards with the pray pave. It is actually significantly more expensive to do it this way. In my opinion it is a better option. They prime the slab with, usually off white, and then spray the pattern on afterwards. In the past I have been told it has a higher MPa rating than concrete, so can withstand the rigours of cleaning. they achieve a more consistent finish, and you dont get the effects of efflourescence that you do in the wet stencilled option. i like stamped concrete personally, but that just a personal opinion. Hopefully the concretors will add their opinion shortly (and i am sure agree with me ) Re: Builder did it again 10Feb 27, 2010 9:29 pm I do at that Ozberg No effing true, ...harder wearing I am not that sure, more even in colour and texture, yes it is.
