Re: How much sand cement water to make 1m3 of strong concrete? 7Feb 17, 2010 7:18 pm Mixing 2.5 tons of concrete in a backyard mixer is crazy, it'll be long and hard slog, I should know, I've tried it once, on half of that amount, it almost broke my back and the result wasn't all that good. Most concrete producers can deliver mini-loads of concrete, starting from 1/3 of m3. It costs more, but saves a lot of hassle. I believe Cherub's 2nd posting of the formula at 3:2:1 (aggregate, sand, cement) is correct. Regarding the amount of water - I suggest enough to make it a nice workable consistency. Not too stiff, not too sloppy - like whipped cream. You might make the first few loads a little on the sloppy side if it is going to be a long pour.
