Browse Forums Paving & Concreting 1 Jan 21, 2010 6:38 am Hi Can anyone pls help with this problem. We bought Riverstone pavers from MLS (ex-Amber) in Caringbah in mid December. The sample we based our selection on was a light sandy shade but the pavers we received were a bright light grey, even though they were labelled with the same colour as that marked on the sample. After a 2 week delay to get them from Melbourne the pavers were scheduled to be laid just prior to Christmas. Noone was home when the pavers were delivered and, as they were marked as the colour we selected, the landscaper went ahead and laid them. It was only after the job was completed the we realised they werent the correct colour. Also 5/50sqm were delivered damaged (cracked right thru or chipped/scratched). The following day we found that several of the laid pavers had also cracked in situ. We took it up with the distributor (MLS) who was unwilling to assist and said it was a matter for the manufacturer (Riverstone). We havent been able to speak to them but have been told by the distributor that they have said we are on our own and nothing can be done. We've taken it up with fair trading and are waiting for a response - does anyone have any ideas on what to do? Re: what to do about paving that is not the correct colour? 5Jan 21, 2010 11:53 am Your problem is with MLS and not riverstone as you purchased off them so your contract is with them. Seems that they dont want to help, so i guess it will be fair trading or as others have suggested going for a charge back on your credit card. Speak to your bank and get that started, also speak to fair trading (or who ever it is in your state) and get that going as well. Its not easy, but you will get a resolution. Last time i took this route it took over 7mths to get an outcome All proceedures will take time - photograph, document, who you spoke too, times and what was said and keep samples if you want to stick with it and get it resolved................ or learn to love light grey pavers Re: what to do about paving that is not the correct colour? 6Jan 21, 2010 12:43 pm Thanks for your interest and input so far - I hadn't thought about trying the credit card company so will give that a try. Its great to hear that you seem to agree that the product & response is unsatisfactory Yep I agree that the transaction is with MLS and I think that's part of our problem. If they had still been Amber we might have got a different response. Anyway, the good news is that Fair Trading called today and based on all the evidence I was able to upload to their online complaints site (photos of sample/delivered item side by side, emails that have been ignored, photos of damaged pavers & those that cracked in situ) they seem to think its very black and white, so we will just keep down that track and see where we get to. Obviously the damaged pavers are an issue too - there are 5sqm in the garage and another 4 sqm laid that are cracked/chipped - I'd like them fixing up, but I dont want to compromise resolving the bigger issue, so I guess we just have to wait for the Fair Trading route to progress. If anyone has any other ideas pls keep them coming I had 28m2 of engineered pavers laid six months back and it was difficult to find someone not taking the pi$$. Internet suggested it should be $85-100/m2 to lay them.… 3 12357 As most others have posted above the install isn't compliant.
