There is a little extra that, well, doesn't need to be there but since it is, all is good. When the drive goes in, there will be some dowelling to attach the drive to the garage. There is a little extra that, well, doesn't need to be there but since it is, all is good. When the drive goes in, there will be some dowelling to attach the drive to the garage. HTH Onc Is that dowelling done by the driveway people or the builder ? Can you please explain in words (or links to pictures) what dowelling is ? Nice to know no flooding too.......Once the driveway is in, will it still be a straight line to the garage (ie no rise up to get in and over it into the garage ?) Re: A Question About The Slab @ The Garage 4Jan 26, 2010 9:42 am I couldn't find a photo of a slab that has been dowelled. But basically holes are drilled at 500mm centres(or less) and a piece of n12 rod is inserted then the concrete is placed. There will be a 30mm step to the garage. The dowelling will be done by the granos(concretors) Where you are coming from is where you are going to... Re: A Question About The Slab @ The Garage 5Jan 26, 2010 9:47 am And to make sure we're both talking of the same thing - you're referring initially and recently to the 45 degree angle before the garage door rebate (the thinner run of concrete before it steps up into the garage itself) ? Re: A Question About The Slab @ The Garage 6Jan 26, 2010 9:52 am Looking at the picture you have three steps. the first is the smallest, that is thee roller door rebate, the second is where the driveway will connect. The third is like a footing for the drive. Where you are coming from is where you are going to... Re: A Question About The Slab @ The Garage 7Jan 26, 2010 11:00 am Highjack This would solve a problem of mine Heh Onc, I have a section of the rear access where the door comes down, There's no rebate and with the door down the rain floods through. I should be able to bust out the 9inch grinder (and the 4 inch grinder for the fiddly bits) and do some skill full mods to create something similar? There is no heavy traffic using this, maybe the trailer once in a blue moon but just pedestrian traffic. I figured, marking it out to the width of a spoon drain grate and cutting it with a series of cuts, chip out with a bolster and mud up a nice shallow fall to it, drop in a grate and no water runs through the garage? Re: A Question About The Slab @ The Garage 8Jan 26, 2010 11:05 am Sounds like a plan Could you instal the drain before the garage starts? Where you are coming from is where you are going to... Re: A Question About The Slab @ The Garage 11Jan 26, 2010 12:01 pm That's what I have now but the rain runs down the door and straight onto the slab, so the guys who have that rebate above have a god send. The drain catches the water fine but that gap of a few inches is enough to have a river flowing through. Might drop the door off and remove the side fascia/flashing, cut out and drop the drain in there instead, reattach the fascia and door and have problem solved Just repave the front where the drain is now. I did a drop on it too but that was a waste of time, should have done it level, the water would find it's way into the soakwell just fine. Re: A Question About The Slab @ The Garage 12Jan 26, 2010 12:11 pm You need some smarty pants grano repairer there to give you a hand Where is one Where you are coming from is where you are going to... Re: A Question About The Slab @ The Garage 14Jan 27, 2010 2:43 pm Will that 45 degree angle be what we have to drive up to get into the garage ? Or will it be made level with the driveway when it's installed (laid more level with the roller door rebate) ? Re: A Question About The Slab @ The Garage 15Jan 27, 2010 5:54 pm paul.jason Will that 45 degree angle be what we have to drive up to get into the garage ? Or will it be made level with the driveway when it's installed (laid more level with the roller door rebate) ? The driveway will be installed at the level of the roller door rebate, around 30mm below your garage slab. it will cover and hide the lowest and widest level of the concrete in that picture. They are a fairly important feature, my slab does not have one, and i am forever cleaning leaves out of my garage because they manage to blow underneath the door. cant even hose the door down without water getting in.
