Anyone have any experience using them?
What sort should I use and how and when should I apply it.
Ive used one before and i left a white film over the surface that was almost impossible to remove.

Different binders/void fillers, for different applications Where you are coming from is where you are going to... Re: Chemical Densifiers 3Dec 27, 2009 5:54 am I poured a small slab a week ago, with the intention to lightly polish, tilt and move within a few days. ordered .4 of 50mpa high early strength concrete, finished the slab as I usually would, 5 days later and tried to lightly polish and the top tore off, its very sandy. waited a few days more and tried again, same thing happened. I put some densifier on it last night, hoping it makes a difference. I am thinking i may have got a dud batch of concrete, Ive had 40mpa of high early strength polish up within 4 days. Re: Chemical Densifiers 4Dec 27, 2009 8:15 am Sounds like you have a contaminated batch. Or the cement content was incorrect. We often do the first grind of the concrete after only 2 days at 32 mpa. At 40 mpa the conc should have a blue green tinge. How did you finish it? By adding water to the surface to pull up some slurry? Was it a hot day, and what slump was the conc when it arrived? We also use silica fume & superplas Where you are coming from is where you are going to... Re: Chemical Densifiers 5Dec 27, 2009 10:21 am It was a mild and wet day, was undercover tho. i gave it a hard steel trowel finish, the mix was dryer than id usually use. I dont want the terazo look so i left them to cure longer, and used a 400 grit resin pad for first grind. looks pretty nasty. I dont know what plasticizer they used, and i dont know what silica fume is. Re: Chemical Densifiers 6Dec 27, 2009 10:29 am Silicafume is like powedered sand. Ah so honed finish is what you are after.. Well you needed to burnish the concrete for a honed finish. soon as you remove any slurry you open up the surface. Where you are coming from is where you are going to... Re: Chemical Densifiers 7Dec 27, 2009 10:47 am I like the look of just the fine sands in the concrete, this tore up the surface, i had to mix up a cement paste and repair the damage it was like the concrete had no body, will using a densifier help fix this or is the piece landfill? |
