Browse Forums Paving & Concreting 1 Dec 14, 2009 7:45 pm I have my slab done but it's not sealed yet. I am going to put timber floor later on (more likely 3 to 6 months) & going to use the slab in the mean time but it's so dusty & i dont know what I should coat it with? should i use sealant or just paint? can i buy something in 15L or 20L & roll it? thanks for any tips ttn Re: Help please. How to seal a concrete slab? 2Dec 14, 2009 9:07 pm If you are going to put down a floor covering that requires a glue or adhesive to stick the covering to the floor you should not put any coatings down on the surface first. This rules out almost all floor coverings apart from carpet and floating timber/bamboo. If you do you will need to remove it before you can install the new floor covering down the track. It can be costly and a little dirty to have the surface diamond ground to remove coatings and sealers. Cheers Slugger Re: Help please. How to seal a concrete slab? 4Dec 15, 2009 1:58 pm Yo slugger, Whilst I agree in part, a sealer binder as-aposed-to paint would be used as a primer before gluing. Also with the diamond grinding we (and I though every professional outfit would be the same) ... use vacuum extraction so there is NO dust, or at least very minimal. But since batten will be used, This comment of mine goes no where. Just thought I should clear up the dirty comment. Cost is relative, sanding a concrete floor at a cost of about $8 sq mtr. ttn slugger95 If you are going to put down a floor covering that requires a glue or adhesive to stick the covering to the floor you should not put any coatings down on the surface first. How to seal a concrete slab? 12Dec 21, 2009 1:17 pm Yeah Mositure fix is suitable, forgot to mention its totally eco friendly Just remember with direct stick you need total adhesive coverage on your wood, if you do little squiggles of glue that leaves paths for vapour transmission otherwise POP Regards Re: Help please.
