Browse Forums Paving & Concreting 1 Nov 23, 2009 3:05 pm Hello there, We are in Canberra, which undoubtedly automatically raises quotes by a significant amount, but we just got a quote back for a small paving job: $4,800 for around 30m2. That includes basic concrete pavers, but we've already cleared the area to the correct levels (we had intended to do it ourselves but simply have no time), so no more levelling is required - just putting down and compacting a base, and then laying pavers. The area is square - nothing fancy, and already prepared! Can anyone give an estimate of what this job would cost? Is the quote we received reasonable? Re: Paving costs 3Nov 23, 2009 3:21 pm $160 sq mtr... You are joking... how about exposed aggregate for less. Sure they didn't quote on 60 mtrs or was it just the $$s they doubled There are some people out there that need to come back to earth I think Bugger the stimulus package... I knew we should have done the hard yards, and shake off some of these blood sucking leeches along the way! ...and interest rates would be lower Where you are coming from is where you are going to... Re: Paving costs 4Nov 24, 2009 11:31 am Hmmm, some other quotes have come in similarly... and no-one can start before the new year. I think we're dealing with heavily inflated Canberra prices and some very spoilt stimulus-boosted trades. I think it's a resigned case of 'we built the whole house ourselves, we may as well finish off the paving too'. It'll take us (well, my poor husband, since I damaged my back building the deck) a few weekends, but to think of everything we could spend that extra money on!! The internal floor is great, thanks Jason! It's been a very cool 24 degrees in the house during those past 36+ degree days lately (and cosily sun-warmed during the last cold months). Pure bliss! Re: Paving costs 5Nov 24, 2009 11:36 am I have asked boral for a conc price to see what the story is. Are you anywhere near Mitchell. Delivery costs extra more than 5ks away $1ish per cu per K. ...before new years no chance. Where you are coming from is where you are going to... Re: Paving costs 6Nov 24, 2009 1:17 pm Hi Again Good to hear it is cool, Polished concrete would be the same but speaking of Cool Concrete I am about to launch CoolStain in Australia early Next year This is a penetrating colour stain that comes in many colours but its main feature is that it reduces the surface temp of concrete, So concrete around pools etc that traditionally gets hot, this CoolStain can reduce the temp by 50deg F Its pretty cool Stuff anyways since we were talking about cool stuff i thought id chip in LOL Its getting damm warm in NZ Re: Paving costs 8Nov 24, 2009 1:48 pm Bugger it has to come from Mugga. (I know I am no poet) So now just waiting on a cubic cost from the plant. Where you are coming from is where you are going to... I had 28m2 of engineered pavers laid six months back and it was difficult to find someone not taking the pi$$.
