Browse Forums Paving & Concreting 1 Oct 28, 2009 8:45 pm I am currently in the preliminary stages of seeking a builder to put 2 townhouses at the rear of my property. I also want to add a bedroom to the back of my existing house, but the builders I have spoken to to-date won't do additions. In order to access the rear townhouses, they will be putting a colorbond fence around what will become a patio at the back of my house. The fence will continue the side of my house to form the side of my patio and then turn 90 degrees to form the back of my patio. If I were to add a bedroom, this new side fence and part of the new back fence would be where two walls of my bedroom would be. Would it make sense to spend a bit extra and have them use bricks instead of colorbond fencing in that area, so that when I do add the bedroom I already will have it part completed and will not have to tear down most of a near new colorbond fence? The former would require me to also have the slab laid when building the fence wall, but that may not cost too much extra if they are willing to do that when they lay the slabs for the townhouses. I would leave getting planning permission and building the new bedroom until the townhouses are complete, as I do not want to complicate the planning approval for the townhouses.
