Browse Forums Paving & Concreting 1 Sep 27, 2009 1:24 pm Hi folks, can anyone tell me if there is anything special required for concreting an area that will have large format 600x600 tiles laid on top after? We have a 13 sqm alfresco area that I need to get concreted in a few months and we have already selected the "outdoor" version of our indoor tiles. I do remember reading somewhere that large format tiles require a very flat surface and wondered if this meant I needed some type of special concrete put down on the alfresco area? Any help, advice and experienced appreciated. It should be trowel finish not rough screed or at a minimum bull float and fresno trowel, the fresno should be run until no major visiable trowel marks can be seen with required fall. the concrete will need to cure as per adhesive manufacturors instructions and most probably acid etched to help adhesive key to conc. to avoid acid etch when the final trowel finish is obtained the concretor can apply a broom finish this will help also with adhesive keying to conc.
