Browse Forums Paving & Concreting 1 Aug 07, 2009 4:39 pm We have a brand new plain brushed concrete patio slab on our house, I was originally going to get spraycrete however I was semi thinking of the idea to paint it with some of the specific concrete paints that are around (To save some dosh). So firstly, has anyone else painted their patio and been happy with the results / have pics handy to view the result? And secondly if I do decide to go with the paint and decide I don't like the look of it, can I then get someone out to spraycrete over the top of it without the underlying paint effecting it? Thanks Re: Painting Patio Slab 2Aug 08, 2009 10:39 pm We have painted both a garage floor and verandah before. The first we did with paving paint from Bunnings BIG MISTAKE! it started to bubble in spots after a few months and then peeled off. The second time we went to a concrete suppliers warehouse and bought proper concrete paint. I don't know what is in the stuff but we poued the paint into plastic cups when cutting in with a brush and it actually melted the plastic cup so next time I will use a glass jar . Fantastic paint that has withstood the test of time, it is actually absorbed by the concrete rather than sitting on the top as a coating. I have a lot left so I am going to do the garage floor and portico at the new house. I don't know the anser to your second question about stenciling later, but if it was attacked with a karcher and then scratched up a fair bit, it could probably be done. Re: Painting Patio Slab 3Aug 09, 2009 8:38 am Thanks for the info, I will do some researching on the different types of concrete paint. I was thinking of using Berger Jet Dry paving paint, was this by any chance the paint you used the first time around? SEE LINK BELOW http://www.berger.com.au/jetdry/berger_jet_dry.asp Thanks Re: Painting Patio Slab 4Aug 09, 2009 11:10 am Yes it might have been that, sounds familiar. Seriously, I wouldn't touch it mate. This is where we got the proper stuff from; http://www.concreterswarehouse.com.au/ Blog: http://bluemistkids.blogspot.com "Never be afraid to try something new. Thanks for the insights, that makes perfect sense, and yeah, I will be leaning on the experience of the excavator operator entirely. 6 11076 Firstly the ableflex that has been installed needs (manufactures specification) a sealant cap over the top, preventing water draining down between the slab and the… 3 5420 If your patio is going to be 35 sqm then that's going to need Council Approval.
