Browse Forums Paving & Concreting 1 Aug 07, 2009 12:59 am Hi everyone, we are about to organise our driveway and I'm wondering what people think will look best for our house. Most people in our street seem to have the sprayed on stenciling so we'd like to do something a little different. I'm thinking perhaps exposed aggregate? I'm just worried it won't go with our colours! If you have a look at this picture you'll get some idea where our colours are heading. The pillars will be rendered and painted in 'paperbark' to match the fascia, the windows will have a moulding around them also in paperbark and the garage door will be - you guessed it - paperbark! What do people think? And any recommendations on contractors in Mebourne's West would be great! Have a look at this website http://www.mentonepremix.com.au/index.html they are in the south but it will give you an idea of the different colours available. We are going to have a dark exposed agg on our house, it will match in with our roof. We also have a lot of paperbark colour in the facade so wanted to stay away from that colour for the driveway. Re: Driveway options? 3Aug 08, 2009 10:58 pm Hi Lance There is a lot of options with concrete including exposed agg and coloured conc. I would suggest finding a concrete plant within 20kms that have a range of exposed and coloured options. Delivery further than that may incur extra cartage costs. When looking for contractors ask about control joining(lines in the concrete to control cracking).Expansion foam against walls and curb. Ask if cleaning and sealing is in the price as it can be a shock if not aware. If going with exposed also ask about enviromental contamination(ie where all the waste slurry will end up) hopefully not down a drain or on the road. Hope this helps and good luck. Re: Driveway options? 4Aug 17, 2009 9:07 am That's great advice, thanks guys! I'm going to get a couple of quotes, and I'll let you know how we go. We've just come back from a weeks holiday in qld, so we're refreshed and keen to get organised with the rest of this house stuff. So much to do!
