Re: Prices for concrete???? 44Oct 22, 2009 4:24 pm vid We just got a quote for our concrete (paths, alfresco, driveway and crossover) and I am just about to book myself in to get therapy-----$33,000 !!!! We don't know quite what to do, our WHOLE slab with 89 cubic mtrs of concrete and 5 tonne of mesh was less than this !! Just got our 2nd concrete quote I was a bit apprehensive as I was still thinking that there is NO way the other guy would have doubled a quote because he doesn't really need the business, I was right he didn't double it he TRIPLED it!, that's right instead of $33k it has come in at $11k, this is not actually apples for apples as it doesn't include one thing but he has quoted for coloured concrete where as the other guy was just plain! It's such a relief!!! Re: Prices for concrete???? 45Oct 22, 2009 5:26 pm Worthy of a second quote So now you will be able to afford that counseling you were talking about This should in no way reduce the quality of workmanship. Re: Prices for concrete???? 46Oct 22, 2009 5:41 pm onc_artisan Worthy of a second quote So now you will be able to afford that counseling you were talking about This should in no way reduce the quality of workmanship. We actually have got another 2 quotes to come in as well. The guy that has just quoted ran me through what he will do, his quote reads it will be 100mm thick with F62 mesh, 25mpa with colour and 2 coats of sealer, it also says something like doved into house, but his writing is a bit hard to read. Re: Prices for concrete???? 47Oct 22, 2009 5:59 pm 'Dowelled' ... Yes a good thing that will stop any height variation over time, and prevent a gap from forming this means that 12mm deform bar ('crank') will be set (glued) into the existing slab. and will be set into the new concrete. Onc PS if there is a height variation from house to alfresco the the footings will be drilled to take the 'cranks' and bridge the joint. Where you are coming from is where you are going to... If you do happen to find a good mob id love the details, we will need quite a bit when our house is finally built. If you do happen to find a good mob id love the details, we will need quite a bit when our house is finally built. Cheers, V I just about did die, I didn't really sleep much until we had the 2nd quote and we knew it was more realistic, we have since received another quote and this was for the same work as the "gigantic" quote, plus a couple of other things and this was for $19k, which makes the first quote about 75% more "apple for apples" we still have one quote to get in so when we decide we'll let you know and I can PM you the details if you want. Re: Prices for concrete???? 52Oct 02, 2011 2:13 pm Hels If anyone in the S.E of Melbourne wants a referral for a good concreter, please PM me. Their rates are reasonable and more importantly their work is neat, tidy and very professional. I highly recommend this concreter and he is very easy to deal with, especially if a female has to organise it all... like I did Hello, can u pls p.m me the nos of the concreter.... Re: Prices for concrete???? 53Oct 04, 2011 6:38 am
I'm located in West Side of Melbourne. Sorry - would have liked to help if i was in syd! Is that a cheap price? I am not sure.. we got 1 contact through the builder. Our old site supervisor (he left the company) gave us the contact for the guy who was doing our driveway. We gave him a call and he gave us a quote. The cheaper of the two quotes we called up someone local and they explained that they can do around 50 per sqm. but might be cheaper since our property wouldn't require a bobcat to shovel the dirt. The block was pretty much level as it is. So came back with the price of 5k. I then only realised that GST would have been added and then push the 'REAL' price above 50.. I have read some prices on this forum before, and it does seem a very competitive price. will have to get more quotes though. Again, if anyone can find a competitive price, let me know... If anyone from West Melb wants some concrete done i can give you the number of the guy who quoted it for me. I haven't accepted it but he's willing to meet on site and go through it with you!
I think that's very cheap , I had my driveway done and I chose the cheapest quote. It was a let down, didn't mention sealing so now I have to do it myself and he missed a section next to the garage.. I wouldn't be going through him again, he treated me like I was a stupid girl. I should have gotten the middle quote. Could you pm me your concreter details as I would like to know who you have chosen. Thanks Re: Prices for concrete???? 54May 12, 2012 9:51 pm Need help to budget with concreting after handover with some current prices for 2012. We are in Geelong Vic. Path, plain concrete at side of house rough measurements 22m2 Rear courtyard, we plan to dig it out first. Some sort of nicer looking concrete suggestions welcomed, either stencil, agg, coloured, roughly 50m2. Its a narrow block so access is tight either side of house. How will that impact the job? Can't really help you with prices now as we had ours done about 2 and a half years ago, but the only thing I would do differently is get the concrete coloured through instead of a topping of oxide only, ours now looks a bit patchy but it's gradually "weathering" and looking slightly better. The other thing is get AT LEAST 3 quotes, we were amazed at the difference in what we were quoted. Good Luck, Vid Re: Prices for concrete???? 56May 13, 2012 2:21 pm Im buying concrete $175 per cube - will need about 12 cubes. Just plain 25mpa. I might stencil certain parts after. Control joints may reduce ugly cracking during periods of soil… 3 9858 |
