Browse Forums Paving & Concreting Re: Prices for concrete???? 21Oct 10, 2009 4:31 pm Hi - I am in Adelaide South Australia. If I budget for $50 square metre for just plain concrete - the cheapest available - on rather level ground, possibly very very slight slope.......sand and clay soil...........would this be sufficient. I will need to have this laid by a concreter and would rather not call them out for quotes until I have the bulk of dollars needed saved. Am a student on extremely limited income - I have no idea whatsoever of the cost involved other than what I have read in this thread . Any advice much appreciated. I am looking for the cheapest type of 'flooring' possible for a backyard pergola - 20 square metres roughly - and concrete came immediately to mind. Only traffic will be human and a gas bbq, potplants - nothing major. HomeLover Re: Prices for concrete???? 22Oct 10, 2009 4:42 pm HomeLover Hi - I am in Adelaide South Australia. Re: Prices for concrete???? 26Oct 10, 2009 7:38 pm onc_artisan can I ask a question please? We are looking at getting 262m2 of coloured, stenciled concrete @ 25mpa with F82 mesh for driveway @ 4 inches thick and F72 mesh and 3 inches thick for the pathways, including 3 coats of sealer, we have been quoted $17,000 incl. GST, do you think these details sounds ok? Would it be much cheaper if we went with just coloured concrete and no stencil??? Thanks for your help. Re: Prices for concrete???? 27Oct 10, 2009 10:07 pm In a word Pink, it would(should) be heaps cheaper The numbers you gave average out at about $67/sq mtr... Though doesn't tell the full story.(ie ??mtrs 4" and 3") I don't like to think about mesh being in 75mm of concrete...mesh needs a minimum of 45mm cover to avoid shadowing and possible concrete cancer (corrosion a while down the track). ...should have a minimum 45mm. Imagine placing concrete in the middle of 75mm thick concrete, ( a max of 32mm cover[-mesh thickness]) walking on the mesh, probably a barrow full of mud too, all designed to buckle and bend the mesh. adrian, the plus is for placing. This job will need 1 or 2 labourers a screed hand and a finisher for 2-3 days... Since the concrete is thinner it is no easier to finish, likely in fact to be more difficult. Where as a house pad of 262 mtrs will be formed and poured in 2 days, and if monolithic more setup time but less concrete shuffling Where you are coming from is where you are going to...
