Some bricklayers or landscapers do both the bricklaying and fence/gate installation (we have done a few) but you can organise the steelwork yourself in the required pattern. It's a lot more accurate to not order the fence until the brickwork is completed, as the panel and gate insert measurements have to be spot on for good installation. A couple of local fencing/gate manufacturers and installers close to you would be The Fence Factory or Eclipse Fencing in Thomastown, or Gate Opening Systems in Campbellfield. The cost would depend on the pattern and heights, it can vary on design a bit. Automatic driveway gates can get pretty costly, and they need to have very stable footings or mounting points to ensure they last years without movement. Re: Front wall with iron gate and fence 3Jun 14, 2009 10:47 am Hi A useful site that can give you a rough estimate for your project is www.diyquotes.com.au we did a 10 m long rendered wall with sliding gate & pedestrian gate, it costs about $3bucks for the estiamte but what we got helped when speaking to buidlers & it was a slightly high estimate than the builder quoted, our biggest problem was with council regs etc as it was 1.8m high & they wanted pier footings cause it was going over a sewer line.. (too bad no one else had those footings, council only recently decided to include it as a requirement) this wasn't factored into the estimate or builders quote, only found out after we started.. good luck.. We have a Victorian style ripple iron fence out the front that has some moulded timber capping. Probably 15+ years old and has cracked and splintered in parts...not really… 0 2491 Get some long brass machine screws and bolt right through the gate and put brass acorn nuts and washers on the other side. It will never come off 1 9074 Hi all. I'm thinking of installing an electric gate in front of this street front villa (link below).
