Browse Forums Paving & Concreting 1 Jun 02, 2009 10:21 am Hello experts, I am building in Nort west sydney with Wincr3st homes. Almost there with the construction now...a few more weeks and then we get the pocession. We have to do our driveway before we move in. Any suggestions/recommendations from you all would be very valuable as me and my better half are both virtually non creative. Ours is a double story hosue with Biscuit coloured bricks (light shade), ebony roof tiles and garage doors and down pipes etc are sandbark (darkish cream). Based on this colour scheme, what do you think we should do with our driveway (Colour/design etc). Thanks Re: Driveway Recommendations 2Jun 05, 2009 1:36 pm This is personal preference but *I* like stamped, coloured concrete! Hi, I like the idea of pebble crete, but get stuck with what colours and also not sure on the costing pasrt of it. Any ideas on how much does it cost/ sq m as compared to stamped coloured concrete? Ta Re: Driveway Recommendations 4Jun 09, 2009 7:48 pm pinkfairymagic This is personal preference but *I* like stamped, coloured concrete! Paving looks good when it's first done but can look terrible after time as the pavers move. What about Asphalt or pebblecrete??? If the pavers are laid on sand or crushed rock base or incorrectly laid they will eventually move, but not if they are laid on a concrete slab then laid on a bed of mortar with hard grout in between. The job, whether it be concrete, pavers, gravel etc is only as good as the lengths the layer went to to lay it properly. If the pavers are sealed and looked after they will last just as long as concrete Asphalt can also look good with a brick border but over time can crack and develop low spots in the tyre marks if the base wasn't laid correctly. Re: Driveway Recommendations 5Jun 11, 2009 12:31 am Hi You could have concrete and have it sprayed to look like paving, liquid limestone which can be coloured, concrete which can also be coloured, aggregate and the obvious paving. My house is dark choc roof tiles with a brown dark brick and cream down pipes and guttering and I have gone with the liquid limestone. Originally had paving. Jbaby, I really liked the Liquid Limestone...trouble is teh cost of it. On looking through this forum, I am guessing it is going to cost me anywhere between $150-$175 per sq m. Concrete, I am guessing, would be more cost effective than this.... Also I had a look at some pebble crete driveways, they do look good..any suggstions on providers in Sydney North West?? Re: Driveway Recommendations 7Jun 24, 2009 12:03 am Sorry im in WA can't help you with that one. Try the search engine that's how I found mine. Have you decided yet which way to go? I too had your dilemma but decided on the liquid limestone and have just had it completed and am very happy with the result. Like previous posters it's a personal preference and obviously whatever you can afford also. I now face your dilemma on trying to decide to go paving, liquid limestone or decking out the back of my place. This will also be budget dependant as have numerous other renovations taking place and other things I'd like to do. My back is huge and whatever way I go is going to cost an absolute fortune. Jababy, I have yet not decided which way to go. Liquid Limestone is ruled out due to cost. Asphalt and pebblecrete along with stamped concrete still in running..nots ure what i will end up with. My backyard I will be decking with Merabu and cover with (probably) laserlite roofing... Good luck for your searches!! Re: Driveway Recommendations 13Aug 11, 2009 12:28 pm Hi..I am building a home in sydney west and I am also there...I would like to get a cocrete driveway but not sure how much does it cost? Can any one help me with it?.....or may be give me some prefered contact details of company or person who are building a concrete driveway??? Re: Driveway Recommendations 14Aug 12, 2009 9:06 am sweetgal, I had 5 quotes ranging from $5k to $9k. All picked from local papers. Finally decided to go with www.sydneydriveway.com.au Work commences next week. Re: Driveway Recommendations 16Aug 13, 2009 10:17 am I guess it is a personal choice...we are going for concrete as it is (we believe) less maintainence. With pavers, you would still have weeds etc in between the gaps and they might become loose over time...and these might just be our concerns without any basis... so to keep our peace of mind and sanity, we opted for concrete driveway. BTW the sydneydriveway guy called up last night and is not intereted to do the work...he wants more money... He quoted us before and now reckons he did a mistake So, I am back in the market to look for new quotes...where are you building? If you decide to go for concrete, we can have a deal with the same company Agree! Simon is one of the good honest ones. His opinions are valid and I can see that he treats his client well and updated. Iām pretty sure his last build broke… 7 20145 Really tight at the top of the stairs- how to get furniture into those rooms? Study books - does anyone really use them these days? Large storage closet would be more functional. 2 4662 I do enjoy the drama:-D In his latest two videos he has started bringing security guards to site, I am waiting for the punch on to begin lol 6 35506 |
