Thankyou Mish & Planned LScape Now, opinions please : Option 1 - horizontal sawcuts with a central sawcut down the middle, something like this Like ⋅ Add a comment ⋅ Pin to Ideaboard ⋅ OR Option2 -- diagonal sawcuts, like this one Like ⋅ Add a comment ⋅ Pin to Ideaboard ⋅ and a reminder of our facade http://i289.photobucket.com/albums/ll235/radinovic_bucket/Como/DSC04482.jpg Built the Eden Brae Cambridge 34 Family with Boston Corner Facade Re: DRIVEWAY - SAW CUTS 2May 31, 2009 2:47 pm I would go with option 1 just because you have horizontal and vertical lines on your home and I prefer to repeat patterns rather than introducing something new with no context or reference elsewhere. Why are you just having plain concrete? Nothing wrong with it (it's what we've got even though we didn't ask for it ) I just thought a nice browny colour might look better with your house? or would that be too much brown? Re: DRIVEWAY - SAW CUTS 8May 31, 2009 11:24 pm Just this past week my neighbour has had plain concrete poured, he then coloured the top a dark charcoal colour and had the diamond/diagonal cuts put into it. It actually looks really good and they have a very modern H3nley facade. Happy at Home Re: DRIVEWAY - SAW CUTS 9May 31, 2009 11:38 pm I reckon option 1, but with the same size sawcuts as in pic 2. This way the closer cut squares resemble a large paver and make your ordinary concrete look a bit more contemporary and out of the norm. I would have loved a brown or charcoal colour donuts, but I think it would be just too much and since the colour options are so limited ie far too many oranges & reds & no beiges, I'll play it safe & go plain concrete. I would have loved the diagonal sawcuts Any chance of a pic, H2B without you looking like you're casing their place ? Quote: I reckon option 1, but with the same size sawcuts as in pic 2. I think what was meant was that some concretors pour ordinary concrete and level off, then spread black oxide over the top and trowel in, giving the charcoal colour. Downside is that if scratched or chipped you see the normal colour underneath. Down the track you can always get a charcoal (or most other colours) in a concrete paint or spray on sealer that will change the colour. Re: DRIVEWAY - SAW CUTS 13Jun 02, 2009 9:34 pm I thought, ( and prolly shouldn't have) since the house has random rectangles you could do a random rectangle cut Where you are coming from is where you are going to... If we go with plain concrete, we won't be changing the colour at a later date. Plain concrete it will stay. Coloured concrete I love though for some reason. our interior designer (who was very savvy with externals) suggested for us to select our stencil colour to closely match the roof colour which will be jasper Food for thought anyway, hope it works out well whatever you go with Blog - http://snakedr.blogspot.com/ Build Thread - viewtopic.php?f=31&t=12084&p=307406#p307406 Status - PCI 15/10. I remember the guy saying the more cuts the less cracking that can occur. We had 2 cracks with the random pattern. They were not serious but apparently....expected I think the colour will look fantastic. Really, really prefer coloured concrete. Will try to settle on 1 colour from each company & then approach our concretor & ask which he prefers to use. As he didn't give me brochures from either of these companies, but from 2 other competitors, I wonder whether he will be willing to use their product?
