After advice on what sort of driveway is going to be the most cost effective and look half decent. Any ideas on how much on costing would be most useful also. Here' a pic of how it currently loocks driveway_small.jpg Neighbour has the concrete bit on the left and ours is the grass on the right. Ideally would have a shared driveway. I'm currently leaning towards Bitumen. I read conflicting stories..so here what I'm thinking... I want something - that if it needs it can be repaired and would look ok repaired (here's where I think Bitumen would work) - Will stand up to water run-off - Will stand up to a small underground spring that leaves the area wet for about a week after heavy rain - good on steep slopes - durable Any advice on bitumen over concrete? The most recent was bitumened (this was early 90s). The one before was paved! (that was in the 80s, to a Victorian era house, so perhaps there were some aesthetic reasons for that one ...). I only have part of your plans, but you seem to have a 850mm drop from the side… 3 9968 Versaloc is a mortarless besser block system that still needs a properly engineered footing. If you just do a 400x200 footing it will fail in time. At 17m long you need it… 1 18277 To my understanding early saw cuts are to control shrinkage cracks, so doing them now would be pointless.
