Browse Forums Paving & Concreting 1 Apr 18, 2009 7:45 am My current side fence (corrugated iron with steel posts) has a strip of concrete (about 100mm high) at the bottom, all the way along the fence. Other side of fence is a carport and backyard. My block was filled before slab was poured. The edge of the slab is about 950mm from the fenceline, and the top of the slab is 350-400mm higher than the bottom edge of the fence. The fill is now hardup against part of the fence (about 10-15 metres). I plan to concrete the side of the house after handover. I think that I'll need a retaining wall of some sort (?). Do I need to remove the current strip of concrete? Will this damage floor of neighbour's carport? Current fence is not new but looks OK (will get damaged when building?) Can someone give me any suggestions/comments? TIA Chris Re: Retaining wall along fenceline 2Apr 18, 2009 7:19 pm Assuming the fence is Colorbond or Zincalume sheets (they don't make corrugated iron anymore) you need to make sure no dirt is in contact with them as they will rust. It can also place pressure on one side of the fence and eventually cause it to fall over. You may be looking at retaining with effective water run-off. I'm sure the neighbour doesn't want all the water running under their carport. Firstly the ableflex that has been installed needs (manufactures specification) a sealant cap over the top, preventing water draining down between the slab and the… 3 7780 Thank you again Simeon.. I will call my certifier for that. Have a good day 4 5179 Thanks for the insights, that makes perfect sense, and yeah, I will be leaning on the experience of the excavator operator entirely. 6 16142 |
