Browse Forums Paving & Concreting 1 Jan 10, 2009 7:01 pm I'm looking for a few more quotes for a 36m2 driveway/path to my front door. I'm currently considering coloured concrete VS exposed ag. I've got the name of someone in the Northern suburbs but was hoping to find someone a bit closer to me. Or would I be better off heading over to Service Central? Any help would be much appreciated! Re: Can anyone recommend a concreter in S.E. suburbs Melbourne? 2Jan 13, 2009 11:08 am I've decided to go with the coloured concrete so I guess it's off to Service Central for me. I'd much rather go by word of mouth but it doesn't look like anybody's able to recommend a concreter in southeast Melbourne! Fence, paving, retaining wall - CHECK! Still so much more to do..... Re: Can anyone recommend a concreter in S.E. suburbs Melbourne? 3Jan 13, 2009 11:11 am Bella, i'll look up the guy we used and send you a PM.
You're more than welcome to come check out his work if you want. Re: Can anyone recommend a concreter in S.E. suburbs Melbourne? 4Jan 13, 2009 11:16 am Bella,
Have you tried Davinci (a member)? Re: Can anyone recommend a concreter in S.E. suburbs Melbourne? 5Jan 15, 2009 11:29 am A big thank you goes out to those of you who PM'd me - you know who you are!
I've got 2 people coming today and one more tomorrow. I did have to resort to Service Central so I'll be interested to see how those quotes go. On first impressions though, I'd much rather go by recommendations of users on here. Time will tell I guess, I'll let you know how I go. Fence, paving, retaining wall - CHECK! Still so much more to do..... Re: Can anyone recommend a concreter in S.E. suburbs Melbourne? 6Jan 16, 2009 2:42 pm Mmmm....interesting.
Quotes ranged from $2150 to $3200 (!!) for 36m2 of coloured concrete. Judging from this experience, I'll definitely be asking for recommendations of other tradespeople here before heading over to Service Central. Work is scheduled to begin next week...BRING it on! Fence, paving, retaining wall - CHECK! Still so much more to do..... Re: Can anyone recommend a concreter in S.E. suburbs Melbourne? 7Jan 16, 2009 4:41 pm Excellent Bella, i hope you're happy with the tradie you selected and if they can fit you in that quick thats fantastic!
Sometimes if its word of mouth the tradesmen themselves are appreciative and will give you a better price! So thats good!!! Make sure you post some pics before, during and after??? Would love to see how it comes out? Re: Can anyone recommend a concreter in S.E. suburbs Melbourne? 8Jan 16, 2009 6:43 pm Well, he certainly was the nicest of the bunch! He's local too so I think that might be why he can squeeze me in next week. Mind you, it's not a big area that I need done so I'm hardly going to be time consuming!
Now all I've got to decide is exactly what I want done with the left hand side. I've always envisaged a curved kind of look as my house is very square looking. However, this reduces the car parking space on the drive from 2 to 1. If I want to sell this one day....it's probably better to have 2 parking spaces on the drive, right? It just means the house won't look how I want it to and I'll have to change the eventual front garden style. My house.... Like ⋅ Add a comment ⋅ Pin to Ideaboard ⋅ Driveway edging possibilities... Re: Can anyone recommend a concreter in S.E. suburbs Melbourne? 9Jan 16, 2009 8:20 pm Lovely house Bella. Are you asking us to help you design the layout for your driveway?
I would go more of a square look personally as the house has nice clean straight lines. But thats my opinion? LOL, did i do that??? NO! So i'm probably not much help??? Also how did my guy go in regards to competitiveness? Re: Can anyone recommend a concreter in S.E. suburbs Melbourne? 10Jan 16, 2009 9:30 pm Thanks **Phoenix**!
Yes, I was just wondering what a few other people think I should do with the left hand side of the driveway. I've got my mind set on a curved path from the front porch to the driveway.....it's better Feng Shui I believe and as I live at the top of a T intersection I thought it would be wise to use the more relaxing curved lines. Sadly, I can't really do it full justice and keep 2 carparks so I may just have to resort to the straight edged driveway with the short curved footpath. I'm going for quite a contrast with the drive colour by choosing Slate grey. Not sure how it's going to look but I hope it will complete the picture properly. I've obviously still got heaps to do with the front so I'll probably start another thread or two about that! As for your guy....I'll be seeing him next week! Fence, paving, retaining wall - CHECK! Hey check out our place on our thread, ours is curved and its wide enough for 2 cars to park in front. There are options, just speak with them when they come to set it all out for you. Bella09 As for your guy....I'll be seeing him next week! I'm just glad that i could help out! He is lovely, but more importantly his work is good and competitive in pricing. Thanks for your reply! We're definitely not after a small house Might still have a chat to them. Who did you end up building with if you don't mind me asking? 2 2634 Hello needing some advice.
