Re: My very first paving project - completed 4Jan 07, 2009 11:28 am Did you get quotes for someone else to do it? if so (not to be rude) but how much did you save doing it yourself? Re: My very first paving project - completed 5Jan 07, 2009 12:34 pm The gravel base was initially poured by the concrete guys. Cost me $250 include the gravels. I left it for 2 months and have to re-compact it before I pour the sand. With everything ready, it took me 3 days to finish it. Man... that's a lot lifting!
I am not sure about the cost of the whole project. Consider the time and energy I spent on prepare for all the materials and tools. It may way too much compare with letting professionals to do the job. But that was fun and rewarding experience. Here's a rough cost for the whole project: Pavers: 400x400mm Stoneage River Blend pavers, 200pcs = $1700 Gravel Base: $250 Sand & Some extra gravel: $150 Tools: Hire a whack plator from Bunning $55 Grinder: $69 I was very lucky. The pavers just fit well into my patio from side to side. No need to cut pavers along the edge. I just bought this grinder to do small cuts for the storm water. Screeding Board: $110 Stone Sealant: $60 (Very effective even with just one spray) Re-chargeable Sprayer: $90 - It's very useful but broken after first time use. I bought it from ebay, so no way to get it replaced. Petrol: $200 (estimated) PS: Should pay special thanks to my wife's patiently support, who tried number of times to convince me leave the job with professionals. Re: My very first paving project - completed 7Jan 15, 2009 9:34 pm ooohhhhrrr, there's a bit of a fall toward the house tomking I don't know about that
Hey in all seriousness, hats off to you for getting it done. For a first timer, I think your second job will be like a pro miles ahead of most. The house we rented before we bought had this area that filled with water in the middle like a lake. I hated it. They would actually have had to deliberately made it like that. well done mate it looks good enough Re: My very first paving project - completed 9Jan 21, 2009 9:13 pm Another job well done!!
It looks great and you should be very proud... Re: My very first paving project - completed 10Feb 07, 2009 6:29 pm OMG - how excellent is that!
Now if only my DH could do something like this - I thinkith it will be me! Thanks for sharing the costing break down, cheers, Annie A thankful person is a happy person. care to share where you learn / receive instruction from? We are actually going to do it for our backyard as it's too small for a "garden" so I thought we should just pave the whole lot. But I know it's going to cost heaps, so trying to do it myself thanks in advance! Re: My very first paving project - completed 13Mar 05, 2009 2:53 pm I found this US website is quite informative (Far more detailed than Bunning's):
