Browse Forums Paving & Concreting 1 Oct 16, 2024 6:14 pm Howdy, I'm trying to figure out the best way to go about pouring a concrete path next to an old house. I've been told conflicting things- drill rebar into the foundations, and don't drill into the foundations. I'm not really sure what do to. I've attached a couple of diagrams, the red indicates the rebar, the blue the mesh that would get attached. I was thinking the mesh and rebar would sit inside the new concrete. There are vertical facades on one side of each path. Would it be beneficial to put a membrane down also? Thank you! In actual fact you need isolation joint in between the path and house slab with Abelflex or similar. Generally you also need to have control joints at 3.0m maximum spacing. Also no need for membrane under external path as moisture ingress can accumulate between the bottom of path and membrane. Re: New concrete path attach to foundation? 3Oct 16, 2024 8:16 pm Eng. I started drilling the holes (white dots) but I guess I'll just fill them in. So I would glue the abelflex to the footings and then the poured concrete will adhere to it?
