Hey.
Background: my husband and I want to put in a new driveway, but it looks pretty expensive to me to do it all in one go. This is because the driveway is probably 30 m+ in length, and then there's the old manky driveway to rip up and remove (along with some weeds that just keep growing back in abundance). We're not nearly handy enough to rip up the driveway ourselves. One thing I've noted though, is that this driveway is neatly divided into two sections by our carport gate.
I have this idea of just getting the professional to do the driveway up to the carport gate and then getting them to do the part behind the gate when we've got the $$, possibly a few years later. I don't believe that it will be necessary to cut any concrete in order to do this because the old driveway is already in sections.
However, my husband is invoking the 'buy once, cry once' principle to say we should do it all in one go because we'll get a better-quality job, and we'll just find the money somehow. Which I'd rather not do, if possible. (I won't bore you with the reasons why.)
Question: is it possible or even advisable to do a decent driveway in two goes? (i.e. from the road to the carport gate and then a few years later, from the carport gate to the carport?)
As you might imagine, I'd prefer not to ask this question to the tradies who are giving me quotes just yet
TIA
