Will be doing in a pool area. Thanks. In both you see the stone used as the aggregate. With exposed a chemical is used to prevent the top few mm's of concrete from hardening. This is then washed away exposing the aggregate. Depending on the methods used for the wash off it leaves from a slightly textured finish to quite an aggressive level of finish. Honed is basically finished like standard concrete and then floor grinders are run over the top. It's basically the same as the first step in a full polish but they basically cut back until you see the stone but don't keep polishing with finer pads so it's always a smooth matte finish. Around a pool and particularly if you are going to pour the overhang of the pool with the deck I'd always opt for honed. It's nicer under bare feet and a smoother edge if you drag yourself out over the side of the pool. If you have a coping in place a lower exposurer washed finish will be fine and much cheaper Thanks mate. We’re doing a coping paver around the pool, then concreting the remainder of the pool area.
