Proper method for laying concrete

Hi all,

I am laying a driveway and am having concrete around the perimeter of my house. I have a waffle slab and need to protect the slab from water ingress. The concrete must drain the water away from the slab. and it must hold it's position over time so as not to lose this function of draining the water away.

I have enlisted a concretor but am unsure what to look for in their procedure to ensure they are doing everything properly.

If someone with expertise or experience could comment that would be great.

Hey lakshman Welcome to the forum
Best thing to do is get a site plan prepared with certified engineers Drawings and Details.
Get 3 concretors to quote on them

There is sufficient information on this forum for you to find what you need if you do your homework, if not then pay independent inspector to guide you.

Funny thing about driveways and cross overs
Council don't give a Sh!t about your drive way drawings, details and construction until there's a cross over onto Council property.
Then they throw the rule book at you if its non compliant
Why don't you call them, ask for their engineering department and quiz them

Ask the Concreter how the drainage works. Even tell them you’re concerned about damp getting into the structure and causing damage or worse (mold got into my bedroom and I thought I had strep throat or tonsillitis for a couple days till I discovered it spreading out from behind the desk. I closed off the room and slept in the lounge till I got rid of it within 3 days I was back to me usual self. It can mess you up, the concreter would understand you querying how it all works
