Browse Forums Paving & Concreting 1 Mar 28, 2022 9:31 pm Hi Guys, TLDR: How would I restore a sandstone/limestone (?) slab so that I could lay interior flooring. What kind of surface prep and would self levelling concrete work? Also what is the material that is used for the slab? I have a standalone structure (5m*4m) that has previously been used as a shed that I now want to renovate it into an additional room. The slab is not in the best condition and it is made out a sandstone/limestone kind of material instead of concrete. The paint comes off when it so much as touched. It seems like there are two layers separated by a sheet of plastic if that is any sort of indication to the type of material used. There are also several deep cracks along it. So how would I go about restoring it? I have looked into self levelling concrete and seems like it could be a valid solution although I am a complete newbie and I may be missing something. How would a prepare the surface? What type of sealant and the like. At the moment my thought process would be to; 1. Remove the existing paint. 2. Sand down obvious bumps. 3. Apply a sealant and bonding agent. 4. Apply self levelling concrete. 5. Lay interior flooring. Does this sound about right?
