Re: Concreting advice pls 183Jun 11, 2015 6:35 am No I haven't but will be doing it in my garden. There are heaps of YouTube videos. I can't see it being too hard as once it's trained ongoing pruning would be like anything else. The do say that trees fruit better and give better yield like this because the channel their energy to a less useless branches. Re: Concreting advice pls 185Jun 11, 2015 8:46 am Depending on orientation they are the best option because they can let northern sun in winter and put the likes of Lemon, Orange on western sides. But yes deciduous will only provide privacy in summer unless the fence is high enough Concreting advice pls 186Jun 11, 2015 10:26 am That looks pretty cool, but that's bit advance level for me Also leaves shedding gonna make it hard as we are going with artificial turf in backyard. Lilly pilly are easy to maintain or do they go crazy once fully established? Re: Concreting advice pls 189Jun 11, 2015 12:37 pm Crazyk Lillypilly drop berries bummer, thanks for the heads up. Any other options Re: Concreting advice pls 190Jun 11, 2015 12:48 pm Crazyk Lillypilly drop berries bummer, thanks for the heads up. Any other options? Re: Concreting advice pls 191Jun 17, 2015 10:11 am We have kicked out our landscaper. Now plan is to go with DIY. But before moving on to that phase, what I noticed puddles in last two days rain. Do we need to address drainage for this first? Our landscaper told me not worry about it last time. But it doesn't look right to me. I would prefer to get it done properly instead of a rush job now which will create troubles later on. Here is my list of question: 1. Do we need drainage in this area or just put top soil, level and go turf? 2. If drainage required, what kind of drainage would go here under grass? I.e. Agi drains with mats over them? 3. There is one storm water point towards other end of backyard (can be seen in pics). Are we allowed to connect drain to that pipe? 4. Who should conduct this work? Licensed plumber or landscaper? I'm not sure if plumbers like to dig trenches in dirt or not. Like ⋅ Add a comment ⋅ Pin to Ideaboard ⋅ . If you put agi pipes behind your retaining wall when it is built won't that deal with the runoff? I'm not sure you would be wise to put agi pipes under artificial turf; I also wonder if they would be of any use as no water will be penetrating to the ground underneath if you can deal with the neighbour's runoff successfully. Re: Concreting advice pls 193Jun 17, 2015 3:20 pm This is opposite side. It's empty block and on same level as ours. This water you can in photo didn't flow from neighbor's land. It's just pooling here after every mid to heavy rain. Now I don't know if its soil type holding up water like this? Plan is changing to switch to natural turf, as it would be DIY. I have done natural turf in past but not experience with artificial turf. There would be about 2 -3 inches top soil and then turf on top. Re: Concreting advice pls 194Jun 18, 2015 7:58 am Once you landscape it should be fine. Put agg as Liliana said. Make sure you improve the soil to absorb moisture and repel. Your solid is most likely compacted so fluffing it up a little will assist with absorption. Re: Concreting advice pls 196Oct 09, 2015 7:09 am Good to see your progress mirz. How did you go with the agi pipes? Are you still getting water pooling? I suppose it is a bit hard to tell at the moment considering we have had so little rain. This time last year we were awash in water. Re: Concreting advice pls 197Oct 09, 2015 7:52 am Thanks Lilana. No more water pooling after I hand dig whole backyard and added top soil. All water is going down. That could be a piece of timber that was mistakenly attached to the formwork. Any reduction in concrete section is a concern.
