Browse Forums Paving & Concreting 1 Sep 29, 2011 12:33 pm Hi all we are installing some frameless glass for around the pool and I need to lay some concrete to bolt down my spigots (dyno bolt types, not core drill) to hold my glass panels. I am thinking of going 300mm wide by 400mm deep and it will be 10meters long. What I need to know is, is the depth enough?? Was also thinking of going down 1mtr every 1.5mtrs doing a 100diameter hole to basically stop the whole fence from rolling over. http://i749.photobucket.com/albums/xx137/01rickster/fence.jpg just a quick drawing of what it would look like basically. Thanks for your input in advance. Re: Frameless glass concrete footing depth please??? 2Sep 29, 2011 3:29 pm is the fence going to be in a garden bed, on the pool beam, on decking, on pavers, on conc. ie: expossed agg.? The total weight of the concrete beam is going to be around 2.5 tonnes that's going to be hard to roll over even if it has'nt got earth on either side. The Harder You Try - the Luckier You Get ! Re: Frameless glass concrete footing depth please??? 4Sep 29, 2011 6:51 pm Hi davinci, lets say that the concrete strip/footings are going to be between dirt with stones on top, with the dirt being 50mm below the concrete height footing. No other forces other than dirt to hold the concrete in place, hence why I wanted to go down a 1meter every 1.5meters. If you think that I need more or can get away with less, let me know. Re: Frameless glass concrete footing depth please??? 5Sep 29, 2011 10:51 pm is the location of fence in existing soil or fill, is your soil / sub soil clay, sandy loam etc? Da Vinci Outdoor Living Architectural landscaping http://www.davincioutdoor.com Re: Frameless glass concrete footing depth please??? 6Sep 30, 2011 6:41 am the concrete footing will be 1/2 way in existing soil, (digging out 150mm approx) we will be backfilling to the concrete with clay type soil. Good question by the way. 2 4714 PM me your email. I have a build excavation calculator you can use based on your plans to double check what your builder is telling you. Cheers Simeon 1 10797 I've dug some footings to embed a post anchor into. My holes are around 450mm deep which I'll put a 200mm stirrup into. The bottom of these holes seem firm enough. … 0 3763 |
