We have paths and a small patio in our garden which are gravel finished with about 30-40mm of tuscan toppings. Seems to be standing up well for occasional use for over 5 years and looks good. Problems can be easily be repaired, (although I haven't had to do it) just get a couple of sacks of topping and spread over the repair. The Harder You Try - the Luckier You Get ! (well graded means a mixture of stones from about 10mm down to sand). This packs down well to form a firm surface. Tuscan toppings have a red/pink color. I made a rubble path of about 100mm of broken bricks and tiles and covered it with about 30mm of toppings and rolled it. I have published a photo of a section of path which I built about 5 years ago on my web site See link below http://www.anewhouse.com.au/?page_id=5146. This surface will provide a good base for pavers if you want a paved patio in the future. Regards The Harder You Try - the Luckier You Get !
