Browse Forums Paving & Concreting 1 Mar 02, 2007 9:26 am Has anyone had any experiences with polished concrete. I am looking at polishing the concrete in the garage to make it into a play/rumpus type room and really like the look however would like to know if there is anything I need to look out for in terms of durability and functionality. Re: Polished concrete 2Mar 04, 2007 3:44 pm hi there, there are 2 ways of acheiving a polished look on conrete ,either thru grinding to a polished finished or thru grinding then either coating with a polyurethane or clear epoxy finish,
In my experiences most of my customers have prefered the latter, this seems to possibly be due to the epoxy is slightly softer under foot and seems to help in things not breaking when dropped on this finish, been an epoxy finish the task of recoating is minamal, the only bonus on the first way of polishing is there is no need to coat as you normally finish around to a 1200- 2000 grit finish, the below link should give you some more info cheers matt http://www.progrind.com.au/index.htm Re: Polished concrete 3Mar 04, 2007 10:15 pm Thanks Matt for your informative reply. I did contact Progrind who then referred me on to someone else as my job was a little too small for them. The person I spoke to was extremely helpful. I am looking at getting around 30 square metres of floor space done. I was told that I can either go for the clean and seal with epoxy finish or grind and polish. I was quoted around $70 per square metre for the first option and around $150 per square metre for the second. I am looking for what is going to be the most user friendly as I am wanting to have the flexibility to park the cars on the surface if we want to. Someone is going to come out this week to look at the surface and loet me know my options. Re: Polished concrete 4Mar 12, 2007 8:03 am Hi all!
I am also hoping to go down this path- exposed aggregate in the driveway and polished/coated in the alfresco. Are there any showrooms to visit and have a look? I picked up a brochure from home ideas centre but this retailer has no showroom. My house it still at the planning/budget phase. Getting someone to come home for a quote may not be the option for me. Please let me know if you know of any such retailers with showrooms. regards, VP Re: Polished concrete 5Mar 12, 2007 8:05 am Hi all!

In my case I bought structural LVLs and scraped them back and used them as joists. 1 5853 i had the my concreters concrete right up to the fence. I have pits all along my path, so the water tends to drain away from the house and into the pits. There's only one… 7 13445 |
