Hi Folks,
A friend pointed me in the direction to the forums and said it has been a big help for him during DIY or reno work. I was hoping you could provide me some advice because i am new to this and would like to buy my first home. I recently conducted a building report on a home i would like to purchase. Everything was in good condition except the plumbing.
Firstly, the inspector found there is moisture in the walls of the shower cubicle. The moisture meter was in the red zone. The areas of moisture were from the water taps, and down the wall, which indicates the moisture may be following the direction of the pipes. Im assuming this could be a leak of some kind.
Next, when you flick the hot water tap on in a fast motion there is a rattle on one of the pipes in the wall. If you do this slowly it does not occur.
And finally, there are signs of rust in the water supply. Again this was evident around the bathroom area. If you run the tap in the bath the colour of the water was red-ish.
Could anyone advise on the following?
1. Are these issues a show stopper or something which could be easily fixed.
2. Does anyone know how much work is involved? I.e. will we have to pull the tiles and shower out to replace pipes etc?
3. How much do you think this would cost?
I imagine some of these may not be able to be answered without a physical inspection, which is something i am going to organise. However, any advice would be appreciated.
Thanks
